Hello All. I logged into my CRA to review my notice of assessment, only to learn I had $757 of late tax installment payment penalties. I recall seeing reminder messages about installments, but I shrugged them off as not needed for our situation. We generally owe, have had the cash to pay on time, and they have never applied to us in past, even though we have owed over $3000 for the last handful of years. https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/payments/payments-cra/individual-payments/income-tax-instalments.html Obviously this is my mistake and there is nothing we can do at this point other than learn from this. But honestly, I am pissed!
EDIT: To clarify, I am angry that I missed the warning signs and have to pay for it. We are taxed enough in this country as it is. Posted this to help others.
