Obsessed with NCA! How do I get into the Visual Communication Design program? (Need advice!)

Hey everyone,

I am absolutely obsessed with the National College of Arts and it’s been a dream of mine to get in. I want to apply for the Visual Communication Design program, but I need some insider advice on the admission process and what to actually expect.

For some context: I'm already working professionally as a Product and UI/UX designer here in Lahore. I love what I do, but I really want to dive into the theoretical and studio side of design at NCA.

I have a few specific questions for current students or alumni:

  1. The Admission Tests: I know I need to pass the drawing and aptitude tests. Coming from a digital UI/UX background, how should I prepare for the traditional drawing portion? What exactly are the examiners looking for?
  2. The Workload: My current work schedule is pretty brutal—I'm putting in about 15 hours a day. Is it humanly possible to balance a demanding remote job with NCA's studio assignments, or is the VCD program strictly a full-time, round-the-clock commitment?
  3. The Vibe: What is the day-to-day culture like in the VCD department?

Any tips on the NTS application process, portfolio prep, or general survival advice for the admission cycle would be amazing. I really want to make this happen.

Thanks in advance!
