I started seeing my boyfriend at the end of January. The first time we had sex, I had a fishy odor coming from my vagina for the first time in my life. For the past couple of months, my discharge has been different. Very watery constantly, either little to no odor or a vinegary odor, some clumps here and there. A few weeks ago I got tested for yeast (among other things) and I only came back positive for yeast. The Diflucan helped, but I'm back to square one and have to go to Planned Parenthood again today for another Diflucan.
I can start by saying that my boyfriend never showers after sex unless we have somewhere to go and he planned to shower anyway. We could have sex Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday evening, and Sunday morning without him showering once. For the record, I shower once or twice each day, do not use scented products, and always rinse well after sex. Sometimes I wait an hour after sex before rinsing off, could that be the cause of this?
TMI, possibly: Boyfriend is constantly itching his crotch. I noticed this before we had sex for the first time. I asked him about it when I got the initial yeast infection and he told me he's "always been itchy. What helps is to scratch myself, because the itching goes away immediately!" Helpful, thanks :I
Not sure how to approach this with him. I have had one other boyfriend beyond him and I didn't have these problems. Boyfriend has had at least five other girlfriends. Is it possible he has had an active yeast infection since he stopped seeing the last one and has given it to me? I asked if his past girlfriends ever had this problem, but he said they hadn't. I believe him, but I also know that it's possible one did and just didn't tell him. When I told him I had a yeast infection, he kept calling it an STD (just his sense of humor, but you understand why previous girlfriends may not have let him know).
So, I don't know what to tell him. I don't want to have him go to the doctor to get treated for yeast if it is my own fault, but I have a gut feeling that this is coming from him. Not sure how to get rid of this gently.
