New build - sand after slab down

Hi!

Have a new build and went to check on it today - photo they sent on slab down looked great, but now theres a metric shit tonne of sand on and around it. Cant really even see the slab from the street anymore. Is this normal? We were told theres about 1-2 months until bricks due to delay, so not sure if there’s a reason behind this?

Last photo was one sent from builder after slab down.

Will contact the builder Monday if it doesn’t seem right. Thanks!

Small SUV - VW or?

In the market for a new small SUV. I currently have a deposit down on the new VW T-Roc, but delivery dates are still uncertain, so I’m starting to look at other options just in case my current car dies before then 😅

Also a bit panicked on the VW - the two people I know who own them (both have golfs) say how much they love theirs, reliable with frequent maintenance etc, but online is basically one after the other saying to avoid VW? I understand servicing costs are dearer.

Back to it though;
Ideally after:
• Hybrid
• Around $50k budget
• Apple CarPlay
• Heads up display
• Nice to drive and feel a bit premium

I LOVE the look of the new T-Roc, so that’s kind of the vibe I’m chasing.

Currently considering, in no specific order:
Kia Seltos
Honda HR-V (only 4 seats though, so slightly less sold)
Mazda CX-30 (partner has cx5 and it’s a little too big for me to enjoy long term)
Toyota Corolla Cross
Suzuki Vitara Hybrid
Mitsubishi ASX

Open to other suggestions too, just no Chinese brands or the Kona (I won’t go into it).

I’m looking to own it for at least 7-10 years.

Thanks!

▲ 16 r/ausjobs

I’ve been on this subreddit a while and after being made redundant, was TERRIFIED of how long I thought I’d be unemployed.

Applied for first role last month, entry level 2 government in a new area for me (hence entry), had interview last week and was told congrats, we’d like to contact your referees yesterday.

It makes me wonder, is the job market this bad, or are people expecting too much? Sure, I’m taking a slight pay cut but that’s better than earning nothing. Now there’s opportunity to grow in this role, or at least be employed while looking for something a bit more. Are people trying to get $100k+ jobs only off the bat?

I hadn’t interviewed for 15 years so had low expectations of getting the job, which makes me wonder if I either did a lot better than I thought, or are there not many applicants going for entry level/lower wage roles?
