Normal ba sa smaller specialized firms/studios yung may probation or training period muna before maging paid, let’s say around 3 months? Curious lang.

Also, for fresh grads entering smaller firms/studios, ano usually expected starting salary or allowance range nowadays? Need data for this

Hello guys, it’s Justine again the architecture student. I just finished my thesis and I’m back to this again.

First, thank you to everyone who reached out after my last posts. I didn’t expect that many inquiries, and I’m sorry if I wasn’t able to respond properly to some messages just up the message, there is ton on my inbox right now sorry for the hassle

To be honest, I’m still in the process of building my portfolio and some scheduled events are still way way way far from this month so i still dont have portfolio to show right now which is why imopen to inquiries and collaborations. My rates are still flexible, especially for events within or near Metro Manila.

If you have any upcoming events this May or need services, feel free to message me. I’m open to negotiating and working things out depending on the project.Appreciate everyone who’s been supporting and showing interest. 😃

For those asking about pro bono work I can’t really do free services right now. I’ve got studio gear to transport and 6-color ink printing costs to manage. But I’m open to talking and doing negotiated projects if it helps both sides and builds my portfolio. . ✌️

Hi! I recently found a firm that I feel like I would really fit in with, and I’m graduating this June. I came across a post from around 2–3 years ago where they were hiring interns, so I’m assuming there’s no active opening right now.

I wanted to ask what the best approach is in this situation should I still go ahead and send my resume and portfolio even without a current posting, or is there a more appropriate way to reach out?

Would it be better to email them directly, message through social media, or try to find a specific person in the firm to contact? Also, in cases like this, is it better to keep things short and introductory first, or send a full application right away?

I’m also curious how do you position yourself better for a specific firm you really want to get into? Do you tailor your portfolio heavily to match their style and type of projects, or keep it more general? And what actually makes someone stand out when reaching out cold like this?

Hi I'm Justine an architecture student and I’m starting an onsite studio service (events, portraits, etc.),

I did some basic marketing already and actually got a decent amount of inquiries/messages at the start. The problem is… once people ask for a portfolio, everything just stalls. I don’t really have one yet. (my target market is wedding so couples will not really get me when they see no portfolio yet The bigger issue is I genuinely don’t have a way to build one right now: No family events coming up No friends who need shoots No existing network I can tap into
So I can’t even “fake it till I make it” with people I know.

It feels like a loop: Clients want a portfolio ---> But I need clients to build a portfolio

For those who started from zero in service-based work (photography, design, events, etc.), how did you get your first few real clients or projects?

Did you: Do free work? Create fake/mock projects? Offer heavy discounts? Just push through until someone said yes?

I’m trying to avoid looking unprofessional, but also don’t want to stay stuck.
Would really appreciate real-world strategies that worked for you.

Hi, I’m Justine. I’ve been focusing on bamboo architecture and sustainable construction, and I’m currently working on building deeper connections within this niche. I’ve attended several seminars with Base Bahay Foundation and completed six month 6 masterclasses under Pablo Luna Studio (firm in bali), which really strengthened my direction in this field.

As I prepare to graduate this June, I’m actively looking to connect with architects, studios, or builders in the Philippines who are working with or interested in bamboo construction. So far, most practitioners I’ve encountered are based outside Luzon, which makes it a bit challenging to find a local network.

If you’re involved in bamboo, sustainable design, or even just exploring it, I’d genuinely love to connect, exchange ideas, or collaborate. Any firm recommendations or introductions would also mean a lot.

Thanks!
