My solid wood front door keeps swelling during the rainy season and has gradually warped from years of rain, humidity, and direct sunlight. It's now difficult to open and close.
I also noticed that my door doesn't seem to have a proper door jamb (hamba). Could that be contributing to the problem, or is it mainly because of the wood?
I'm planning to replace it. What door material would you recommend for the Philippine climate that won't warp or swell over time? Any advice on whether I should also replace or install a proper door jamb (hamba) would be greatly appreciated.
Hello! I have a list of laptops here, and I just wanted to know which one would be the best pick for CAD, rendering, editing, streaming, gaming ang longevity wise

But my question to those with more experience is, do you actually advise saying no kahit apprentice pa lang ako?
How will it affect my standing in the firm, my logbook hours, or my future references? If you do advise setting a boundary, what is the best, most professional way to tell a project architect or boss that I am cutting myself off after a certain hour without burning bridges?
Katatapos ko lang ng college nung May. And even before pa naman, balak ko talagang mag rest muna for maybe a month or two. But then, habang tumatagal na-pressure akong kumita ng pera kaya naghanap ako ng work. May nahanap ako but not related to architecture.
Now I'm asking, what would be the advantage and disadvantage kung di ka agad mag ta-take ng apprenticeship after graduation? For context, ang graduation ceremony namin ay next month. Maliban sa of course, di mo agad macocomplete yung log book... Ano pa yung dapat kong i-expect???
Is it really okay na hindi po agad mag simula sa apprenticeship?
Please no rude comments po. Tyia
hi po for those who took MPLE FEB 2026, clarify ko lang if
hi! i’m a fresh grad and will be having a virtual interview tomorrow. what questions should i expect and prepare for it?
and if i were to be ask about my expected salary, what would be the proper answer considering i have no experience and that the firm is located in bgc?
thank you!
30M here, graduate ng BSIT last 2019 pa, but pangarap ko talaga is architecture pero wala sa university ko. Di ko din pinursue yung IT, instead naging full-time event photographer ako for the past 5 years.
Hi! I’m an incoming college freshman and I’m having a hard time choosing the best school to pursue Architecture. I was supposed to submit my enrollment documents to Benilde already since the deadline is on the 15th na, until I got an email from UST stating that my application has been reconsidered and therefore I am eligible to enroll there. I will greatly appreciate any advice or experience you can share 🙏🏻 I’ve created a list of pros and cons too.
Cons:
• Extremely taxing in all aspects (more plates, more units, etc) when compared to Benilde
• They have a strict cut-off policy (not sure if it’s implemented after 1st or 2nd yr) and a lot of students are removed coz of that.
• Basically to survive in UST Archi, you must have the grit, or else, tanggal ka.
• Pa-swertihan sa profs
• Shit admin 👎🏻
• Not sure yet if it’s a disadvantage but heavily traditional pa rin sila. Might this be a disadvantage when I graduate in five years? Especially with technology advancing, and afaik, most outputs are digitally produced in the real world post-undergrad.
• I’m scared I might experience mental & emotional fatigue like everyone else due to heavy workload and pressure 🥲
Pros:
• Top 1 performing Archi school (100% passing rate on the recent LEA)
• Near my house so easy commute (usually takes me 30 mins to get there via 1 jeep)
• Best campus life (as a former Thomasian)
• It genuinely feels different in UST. The campus itself, the environment, community, events, orgs, the endless food stops in every corner outside the campus, are what, for me, makes UST bearable.
Cons:
• Super layo sa house ko and my parents won’t allow me to have a dorm (1 hr & 30 mins commute time via train). I feel like this will take a toll on me especially if a class ends late. Also I’ll be wasting the time I could have used to rest or finish homework.
• Personally I’ve never been to TAFT but all those I’ve asked who reside there say na mabaho at maingay sa area
• Pa-swertihan sa profs, same with UST
• Campus life, pretty much nonexistent since it’s just different buildings scattered around
• They have events too but not the same as Paskuhan, Agape, etc.
• No uniform (a con for me since I don’t wanna stress about my fits too😭)
Pros:
• They have a progressive approach when it comes to teaching + I’ve heard that they use digital softwares as early as 1st year, unlike in UST where they’ll start only during 3rd year. As you can tell this is my deciding factor coz ayaw ko mapag-iwanan in the future 😭
• Workload wise, it’s far more bearable than UST
• Profs are very understanding daw and easy to communicate with
• Connections 👍🏼
• 98.55% passing rate on the most recent LEA so there’s a lot of improvement
Yeah so that’s everything I am currently considering… My parents really want me to study in UST. My tito who’s part of 50 notable architects says that I should choose UST over Benilde… Personally, I think Benilde has a lot of good opportunities, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to give up what UST can offer, being that it is the most prestigious Archi school here in the PH. My main worry din talaga, besides UST’s traditional approach, is that I might get mentally drained there
New Architect, I have a potential project, house extension. A row house -extension (2 storey). Project scope is design (including PL and ST and periodical site visit during construction phase.Client budget is 3M.
With the current economy, how do you guys rate your professional fee. I know it's percentage of construction cost ang usual. But I feel like client will get intimidated if they read more than 5 digits. Also, I want to build a long-term trust with this client because they also have 2 more potential project after this one.
Please, let's make this post educational, para helpful na din sa mga future na nasa same situation. Thanks!
Hi, Fellow Apprentices! And Architects!
Question lang po regarding sa Diploma and Logbook.
May 2024 po kasi nakalagay sa Diploma and TOR sa school namin, kahit September kami grumaduate.
Paano po pagganto? Hindi po ba maququestion ng PRC?
Thank you po in advance!
Has anyone ever seen perpendicular pocket doors? We have an 1869 QA with 3 full sets of side-by-side pocket doors and one of those sets has 1 door that closes perpendicularly to it. The 3 doors form one corner in the living room and the dining room. Yes, they are functional, but we leave them mostly open.
I love touring and looking at pictures of old homes, but I have never found any doors like this.
*Edited to add there are pictures of the doors closed later in the post*
Hello, arkis! I’m planning to enroll JPT’s flexi class for LEA June 2027. And instead of purchasing their review materials, I’m thinking of buying TopLab’s review materials instead.
I was wondering if pwede po ito?
Also, any Review Center tips are highly appreciated. Kabado na po kahit next year pa mag take 🥹 Thank you so much!!! 🩷
Any experiences working in SM Supermalls as a Design Officer?
Hi! I am client, not a contractor and a supplier.
We picked sukabumi tiles and well aware that this is a natural stone, our water-source will be deep well. Project is already long overdue, due to installation problems and right now this is how it looks like.
I know from my instincts that something is wrong with how they installed it. Ung grout, at pagka buff, hindi na nagpantay pantay base sa shadows. Gusto ko na lang papalitan ng mosaic type to be honest, is my insticts right na may mali sa the way ng pagka install ng contractor?
FYI: I already asked advice anonymously in blue app groups but I got flooded with unnecessary comments by suppliers trying to play detective. I really want to respect my identity and the contractor.
Thank you!
passed the june 2026 LEA! may instructions na regarding UAP portal registration and pagbayad ng fees.. na activate ko na account ko but i need to fill up the profile details. Need na dun yung PRC registration date and expiry date eh wala pa kami ID? Tried na hindi muna lagyan kaso required yun to submit

Hello, I just passed LEA 2026 and currently nagsesearch na po ako about sa mga chapters na malapit sakin na active sa mga events, seminars, etc.
Ask lang po sana ako ng opinions nyo about the following chapters? Around QC lang po kasi ako malalapit :)
Or id may other suggestions pa po kayo? Thank you po! 🥹
