I work only in the tech subs (e.g. r/Outlook, r/vba) where cross posting for karma farming and spamming is not a real problem. Most of the regulars who answer questions in these subs would actually prefer cross posting.
I'm trying to come up with a standard comment I can use when someone duplicates a post to encourage them to cross post next time.
Is this accurate? Is there a better way to phrase it? Something shorter?
Next Time - If you can cross post into a subreddit, instead of duplicating your content, please do so.
Cross posting makes it easier for people who are interested in your post to see all of the comments in one place. It also prevents a duplication of effort when multiple people are trying to solve your problem but don't see what others have already suggested.
To start a cross post, click on the [Share] button under your question and choose -> Crosspost. On the "Create a crosspost" page search for the subreddit you want in the "Select a community" box. If the sub you want isn't shown in your search results, try joining the sub first and see if that makes it available. If a sub is shown but grayed out, it means they do not allow cross post.
