Please tell me that I can turn this off somewhere

It suck so bad. It adds absolutely nothing, covers parts of photos and blocks text. I’m not very good at navigating the settings on this app, is there somewhere I can turn it off?? It’s actively making it worse to use the app.

Bots are using my account to post extreme pictures...

Despite changing password, forcing logouts etc, I just logged into this account to see that I've got numerous outraged comments, messages that I've been kicked out from naughty communities that I've never heard of for apparently being too naughty, aaaaand my bio is changed.

Assuming it's botted, nothing else I can do but delete the account?

(iOS) How do I get rid of this?

It keeps getting in the way of images, is often unrelated to the image it’s on, and is generally an eyesore. If I wanted to look something up, I would just do that myself

Weekly Recap | August 20, 2026

Welcome to Thursday! It wouldn't be Thursday without a Weekly Recap in r/help, so here I am! I hope everyone has had a good week since we last convened. The NFL is firing up again, so that's something. But the saying "the dog days of summer" is really hitting home right now. It's warm and I'm a little sluggish. lol So let's make it through another Recap and then find ways to beat the heat!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • In case you missed it, there was a new Changelog published last week.

  • We had a little thing on Wednesday yesterday where comments weren't able to be submitted on old Reddit, but worked fine on the new site. That was fixed up fairly quickly and we replied on several posts like this one that it was being worked on and we updated when it was fixed

  • Some users will be in an experiment where there is an X on posts that you can click/tap to hide the post. Others will be in a similar experiment where there is not an X and there is not a "hide" option, but there is a "show fewer" option instead. "Show fewer" will accomplish the same thing as the X or the "hide" option. Also, some recommendations will have neither the X or a Happy to pass along constructive feedback about this.

  • There's also an experiment where upvote buttons are on the left.

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. Do not contact "Reddit support on Discord" for help with your account because that is not a real thing. That is someone trying to scam you and steal your account. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit)

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.33.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well. (Thanks to u/reddit33450 for pointing out the error in these two links so I could fix it!)

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECTSCALE!

  • [Web] The option to “view more” may be missing right now if you have more than 25 mod applications. This is being looked into.

  • [Web] Some mods reported issues with banning or muting users in mod mail. The fix for this went out last night!

  • [Web/iOS/Android] Some users are noticing that their chat allow list is filling with users from their blocked list. The good news is that this appears to be visual only, but it is still being investigated in order the implement a fix.

  • [Mweb] Re-ordering flair isn't working properly on mobile web right now. Ticket has been filed for this one

  • [All platforms] Finally, the other day, some users couldn't upload images, but this was fixed pretty quickly, so all is good once again!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,045 posts. That's down 210 posts from the 1,255 that we had last week.

  • 4,345 comments. That's down 1,455 comments from the 5,800 we had last week.

  • 1.3m views. That's down around 90k views from the 1.4m-ish views we had last week.

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - REPORTING A SUBREDDIT

Obviously, subreddits are expected to follow the Reddit Rules and the moderators are expected to follow the Moderator Code of Conduct. But sometimes, that doesn't happen and things go off the rails. If you see something like that, please report it.

To report a subreddit, you can file a report here. Under "What is your community concern?", please select "I want to report a subreddit for violating the Reddit Rules". When you get down to the "Details" part, please include details! Links to posts are going to be important as well as a clear explanation of what is going on.

To report a Moderator Code of Conduct violation, you can use this form.

This new comment/profile icon feature is NOT it. Please do not roll this out (iOS)

I think I am one of the very few where this feature is being tested because I cannot find anything about it online. Whatever this horizontal comment scrolling feature thing is called it’s incredibly distracting and annoying. Why would I ever use that?! It doesn’t show the full comment either, idk. I’m sorry Reddit, I don’t like it

Need help accessing my Reddit account

I've been trying to get help from Reddit Support for months now but have gotten zero response whatsoever. Is this even a good place to ask for assistance? My account (ForwardToNowhere) was broken into a while ago and I have been completely unable to gain access to it. None of my passwords work anymore so they obviously changed it, and requesting a password reset does nothing at all. I've had that account for ~10 years and I really don't want to curate my communities and feed from fresh. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(iOS) Logged Out of One Account for no clear reason

For further context, I was browsing momentarily in anonymous mode (don't judge), and when I came out of anonymous mode, it switched to my normal profile (what I had entered anonymous mode through), then logged me out of it fully and switched to one of my other accounts.

My password and email were not changed, and as far as I'm aware, there's no way to check log-in history. What could have caused this?

I have 3 accounts logged in on this device if that makes a difference.

Can't reply anywhere using Old Reddit "an error occurred (status: 404)"

Anyone else getting this?

My last successful comment was 20 minutes ago. Since then, any attempt to add a comment, in seemingly any sub, results in "an error occurred (status: 404)".

This is with Old Reddit (the Best Reddit; when it goes, I'll be gone)

Hi! I really need some clarification about permanent bаns and ban evasion

If someone's 2-year-old account with over 1M karma was permanently b@nned, allegedly for spam, are they allowed to create a new account, post entirely new content, and use Reddit much more carefully without repeating the behavior that may have caused the original ban?

Would simply using a new account be considered b@n evasion? Or does a permanent account b@n mean that person is never allowed to use Reddit again?

I've read Reddit's rules and discussions about this, but I keep finding conflicting answers.

I also know of at least three well-known content creators whose previous accounts were permanently bаnned. They later created obvious new accounts with similar usernames, and those accounts have remained active for 6–12+ months, some reaching over 1M karma again.

So were they actually allowed to return after a permanent Reddit ban? Where exactly is the line between starting over with a new account and ban evasion?

I'd really appreciate clarification, especially from an admin or someone familiar with Reddit's current policy.

My app

hi, I’ve been using Reddit for over eight years now and not once I’ve had a problem with my app logging out on its own until recently. It started a couple months ago and hasn’t really been a problem till the last couple of weeks where I’ve noticed if I open the app every once in a while, my account will be logged out, and I have to sign back in. Now over the past couple of days it’s been more frequent and almost every day. I’ve had to check to see if I’m locked in to Reddit and I wanna know what the reason is if it’s something to do with my app, my app should be fully up-to-date, and I checked my account for recent logins and there have been none

Is it possible to give an abandoned subreddit about X artist to the artist themselves to moderate? (After verifying them. What other requirements would they need to fulfill?)

Reddit should require a community content label for subreddits where racist jokes, stereotypes, and similar content are routinely permitted.
