Sorry in advance if I am missing any information - feel free to ask for any clarifications on my end, I'm just exhausted from the constant string of "results are inconclusive" from my current doctors.
I have multiple issues that are rapidly declining and getting worse, and have no idea if any are actually connected. They just happened pretty much all at once (worsening within the last year.) But the biggest concern for me is the vision loss and balance issues. I'm hoping that the doctors of reddit can at least point me towards the right direction and give advice on what I should do going forward.
Vision loss began with loss of peripheral vision and only occasionally (barely noticed until it became a hazard to be around tables and chairs.) Then learned that tunnel vision was NOT a literal thing, as it became apparent that there was an on going issue. Started becoming more and more near sighted, which was also only occasionally. Eventually it got to the point that I could not convince myself it was general eye strain, and went to an Optometrist who then referred me to a Neurologist. Did prescribe me glasses, which are becoming less effective by the day. (Got my glasses 6ish months ago, and now can barely make details 10ish FT. away from me.) Am going to 2 different Optometrists soon, hoping they can give any more say on the matter.
Neuro took me in for multiple (10+) MRIs, however all results and imaging came back 'Normal and/or Inconclusive.' Which led him to refer me to Neuroophthalmology (I have yet to hear back from them, will not have an appointment until April of next year.) However while trying to figure out what was wrong, he did get a lot of tests ran, which led to the diagnosis of TB affecting my vision. He is getting me to come back for a follow up in a month (Will update after the results), but until then I am at a dead end with Neuro.
Tests ran include liver function (Slightly elevated due to fatty liver, am currently in the process of fixing), TB (Tested positive and ophthalmology concluded that it is not present in my eyes), STD/STI (All negative), Multiple MRIs (All came back normal/inconclusive - did find chronic sinus issues, but shouldn't be affecting vision and brain fog), Brain function tests (Don't remember what it was called, something wave, but came back inconclusive/normal), and vision tests (pointed to no specific cause, just solidified that my vision is worsening.)
Besides my vision, my balance has been actively worsening. This is relatively new (within the last 3ish months) and has been very rapidly deteriorating. It's now getting harder to stand for longer than 30 minutes without holding onto something. If I have my glasses off, my balance gets actively worse. Walking up and down stairs is a nightmare to keep my footing without looking directly at the steps and holding the rail (whereas 4 months ago, I could run up and down them regularly) and walking longer than 15ish minutes results in me getting very disoriented. Currently waiting to talk to Neuro when it comes time for my follow up, but it's been getting hard to actually do anything as of late.
Last major problem I'm experiencing is really bad brain fog/memory issues. This comes and goes, but it can get bad enough that I forget what I am currently talking about or doing sometimes. It has also been a pain to remember specific things that I used to, and it has shown signs of getting worse (lasting longer/more recent memories being foggy.)
As for the TB, that's really the only thing WITH conclusive results and active treatment. Taking the weekly/3month treatment for it, however it apparently is not responsible for any of my ongoing issues.
Besides the TB, all of the other listed problems are actively getting worse, and I'm just getting worried. If my vision keeps getting worse at the same rate it has been, it's a genuine concern if I'll even have vision by the same time next year.
Again, sorry if there is any information I missed, I have had a long day and this is my first post on reddit. Feel free to ask for specifics, I'll try my best to answer anything. And thank you all who do see this and comment. Hopefully we can figure something out.
