Hi not sure if this is the right sub but I’m a bit lost.
My father died when I was 16 about 8 years ago, at the time he was receiving retirement through OPM and had set up a life insurance policy with them as well. He made me the sole beneficiary. I just found out about this a week ago, and have just gotten the documents he signed establishing this, with his case number.
Is it too late for me to claim anything? I’m also confused as the OPM says only a surviving spouse can notify of a death, but he was long divorce when he died.
Any guidance on forms I can fill out would be really appreciated. I’ve tried calling the OPM office with no luck so far, and have emailed them. I’ve tried the support portal, but all I can input is CSA number and rest is greyed out.
