DRP on Administrative Leave will soon be Regulation

The(DRP) reference to costs follows an estimate that deferred resignation programs in 2025 cost between about $11 billion and $15 billion in lost productivity. Under an initial government-wide offer and then later individual offers from agencies, some employees were allowed to stay in paid status for six months or longer.

Error in insurance primary/secondary priority between FEHB vs Medicare due to OPM mistake (DRP 2.0) — anyone else?

My loved one took DRP 2.0 from the IRS end of 9/25. She fell and broke her hip in January 2026, leading to a series of notable medical costs. Due to a failure of OPM’s systems to reflect her actual employment status in early 2026, they incorrectly considered her still an employee in certain respects, causing OPM to misinform her and her healthcare providers that FEHB (BCBS in this case) was the primary insurance. Months later they reversed the instruction, backdating it, to reflect Medicare as primary. And now, of course, both providers have refused to pay, indicating that the other is primary. The Medicare protest deadline is in October—we’ll protest. And if necessary we’ll sue both at once.

Anyone in a similar position had any success?

FERS Disability Retirement Approved

Hello everyone, I just received my official OPM approval letter dated June 24, 2026. I am a former Automation Mail Processing Clerk with USPS.
Since timelines are always helpful for this community, here is my exact journey:

July 2025: Started the disability retirement process with USPS.

Late January 2026: USPS HR completed and officially sent my entire disability package to OPM.

March 23, 2026: Received my official CSA number in the mail.

May 22, 2026: Realizing my case was stuck, I officially signed a Privacy Release Form with the Office of Representative Pablo José Hernández. His federal retirement casework team submitted a formal congressional inquiry to OPM to check my file status and push it to the medical unit.

June 24, 2026: Received my official OPM Approval Letter.

Current Status: I am currently waiting for USPS to officially process my separation from the company and waiting for my very first interim payment deposit.
My question for those who have gone through this: Since OPM already issued my CSA number back in March and my approval is official, how long is it realistically taking USPS payroll/HR nowadays to process the final separation so OPM can drop the first interim payment? I am really hoping to see my first deposit on September 1st. Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated!

On a personal note, I forgot to mention the congressional help in my initial thoughts, but it made a massive difference. If your case is stuck in limbo, I highly recommend contacting your local representative! It took just about a month from the congressional inquiry to get my final approval.

As someone who is relatively young, going through this long and grueling process was incredibly tough. But I want to give all the glory and honor to God. It was my faith in Jesus Christ that gave me the final victory and the strength to endure every single delay. He opened the doors when things looked impossible. If anyone needs any guidance or just wants me to pray for your situation, please let me know!

No Interim Yet

Retired 2/14. Have not received interim pay yet. Received an email last week from OPM requesting my marriage license since I forgot up send it in. I asked for an estimate of when I’d be receiving interim pay and several more questions in my email reply with the marriage license attached. I received an email back stating the license had been received and added to my application but no responses to any of my questions…but with the obligatory ‘“let me know if you have any questions” . Any ideas of when to expect interim pay?

OPM offers incentives for healthcare and insurance employees to leave before Open Season | Federal News Network

OPM told employees in its healthcare and insurance (H&I) division on Monday that most of them will have another shot at opting into the deferred resignation program. Employees who apply and are accepted by OPM will go on paid administrative leave for six months before separating from the agency.

Most of OPM’s healthcare and insurance division employees will also be eligible for early retirement. Federal employees are eligible for early retirement if they have 20 years of service at age 50, or 25 years of service at any age. Eligible employees are allowed to voluntarily retire and earn an immediate annuity.

Deferred retirement timeline and finalization

I applied for deferred retirement and received my CSA number in May but never received a password. Today I signed in using Login.gov and can now see my dashboard. I do not see a way to tell where I am in the process and all annuity numbers are 0. Does that just mean it is simply not processed at all?
I only have 6.5 years in so I know it won’t be much but since I am now 62, I should receive something.
For anyone else who did a deferred retirement, what did your process look like?

How many days until you got your hardcopy booklet and explanation of the final tally, etc.

I finally got a notice that my retirement, 30 September 25, has been finalized. 272 days.

I am wondering how long it has taken most people to get the paperwork from OPM in the mail.

Thanks everyone. I downloaded two separate booklets. One had my excess payment that will be deposited and the second showed they are correcting my health insurance to self instead of self plus one)

Thank you to OPM processor?

By random chance, have any of you wanted to and figured out how to send a personal thank you to the specific OPM employee who processed and finalized your retirement package, even if indirectly (not needing to identify them)? I'd like to do that if possible, and I'm coming up blank in a first search.

Thanks!

FERS Supplement and documentation for earnings prior to MRA

I took VERA in 2025 and am continuing to work part time in the private sector. I will reach my MRA in October of 2026, and plan to continue working a little while longer, but keep my earnings below the annual earnings test amount after hitting the MRA. I had received information from OPM's retirement services online help desk that, since earnings are cross referenced with the Social Security Administration, that I should submit a letter when returning the survey next year providing details of my first year receiving the FERS supplement - stating that I began receiving the supplement in October 2026 and specifying the $ amount that would count towards the earnings test from that date forward. However, I saw a FERS supplement post recently that seemed to show that a hard copy survey isn't sent any longer, and that the process has moved to an online one. From the screenshots posted it didn't appear that there was anywhere to state that $X was the amount made after reaching MRA, so that I could specifically separate that from the total amount earned in the whole calendar year. Does anyone who received the survey this year have any insight?

Development

Background: DRP2, Regular Retirement effective 30 Sep 2025, electronic application through GRB Platform, received by OPM 6 Nov 2025, assigned to specialist 5 Jan 2026, interim pay since 7 Jan 2026, all FERS eligible service time with single agency, court order to divide pension

I called OPM last week to ask about any update. The last time I called I was told that my case was in the legal branch. This time I was told that my case went to "Miria" (sp?) on 2 Jun 2026 and then to "Development" on 5 Jun 2026. I asked how long Development usually takes and was told usually about 30 days.

Verification of Annuity shows that I should expect my next interim payment on 1 Jul 2026.

Looking through previous posts it seems that others have reported being in Development but this is the first that I have heard it applied to my case. Anyone know what it really means and how long it really takes from there to finalized?

Question about SF3106 refund

So, I know this FERS Refund is technically just getting our contributions refunded to us that we contributed while we worked for the Gov. My question is - does this count as ‘income’ or not, since it was our money in the first place but basically put it elsewhere until now, where we are applying to get it back? Thank you!

Suspend FEHB

Hi all. Jumping in here to see if anyone knows how long it takes to make the adjustment after I sent the R form? I uploaded all my documents plus copied them and mailed them. My annuity is rather small.

Ok dumb supplement question

So I reach my MRA on August 4th of this year. My understanding is that the first supplement payment should hit on October 1 which would be for the month of September. My dumb question is, do I get anything for August since my MRA is so early in the month? Or am I outta luck?
