GE Microwave Buzzing and Blows Fuse
I've had this GE JVM3160DF2WW microwave oven for at about 10 years. Recently while warming up some food, I briefly heard a buzzing sound followed by the power to the unit going out (fuse blown). I replaced the glass fuse as well as three interlock door switches. I was able to get the unit to power up but would hear the buzzing sound followed by the fuse getting blown once I tried to warm up a cup of water.
Next I tried giving the square black relay behind the motherboard several whacks with a small hammer. Now when I power the unit up, the oven sounds as though it is running while the door is closed despite my not having selected the Cook option. The sounds stops while the door is open and resumes once you close it. The Cook button is unresponsive.
I will mention that I experienced almost duplicate symptoms to the above about 14 months ago, and at the time was able to get the unit operational by replacing the three switches, switch latch board, fuse and by whacking the relay. I unfortunately am not having any luck this time around. Any guidance will be appreciated.
