Yasir Qadhi says he disagrees with both Progressive & Traditionalist fundamentalist groups. But did you notice how harshly he criticized the Progressive groups, while only politely disagreed with the fundamentalists & even sympathised with them?
Isn't it funny that:
- Yasir Qadhi receives the harshest criticisms and at times even gets takfired by the Traditionalist Fundamentalist strand and yet he is sympathetic to them, praises the clerics of this strand and politely disagrees with them;
- but harshly criticizes progressives and basically portrays them as bootlickers of the west. Calls some of the Progressive figures heretical and says things like they don't have any respect for our civilization & accuses them of having an inferiority complex - even though Progressives often praise him?
There was a recent video of him where he talks about Progressives vs Traditionalists.
That video is over 1 hour long, and I don't think everybody would want to spend so much time watching that whole video. So here are parts cropped from the original video in three parts, in the first clip I have put what he has to say about the progressives, in the second clip his opinion on the fundamentalist strand and in the third clip his own strand which he refers to as the middle path.
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Here is what he has to say about the Progressive strand. He strongly disagrees with them, calls some heretical or bordering heretical, accuses them of being bootlickers of the west and having no respect for Muslim civilization, says they have inferiority complex and whatnot:
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
On the other hand, when he talks about the Traditionalist Fundamentalist strand, he says he politely disagrees with them, these people are people of Iman & Taqwa, he has respect for them, these people only enacted a defence mechanism, built an imaginary wall because of the Western colonization and prevalence of Western ideas etc. He also mentions that some of these groups still forbid women education etc (but yet he only politely disagrees with them and has respect for so called “great sheikhs”, no harsh comments about them unlike progressives):
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
And finally he talks a little bit about his stance, which is following the path of Rashid Rida:
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
So he has so many harsh words to say about the progressives, but nothing to say about fundamentalist groups like the Deobandis (and Taliban follows this Deobandi strand, they have banned female education in Afghanistan)? He just politely disagrees with these groups who are responsible for so much pain and agony! Can he show one example where the Progressives ruined societies? Because I can show him hundreds of examples where the Fundamentalists ruined societies. This makes me mad.
