Introducing AvesO3: a Firmware for AO3 Fanfiction Readers

FOR UNLOCKED DEVICES ONLY! Do not flash through the unlocker tool.

After searching in vain for an ereader capable of providing a decent AO3 fanfiction reading experience, I decided to take matters into my own hands; based on Crosspoint 1.2.0, AvesO3 includes:

  • AO3-Style Library: displays your library in the classic AO3 layout, complete with metadata (note: requires opening books at least once for now)
  • On-Device Chapter Updates: manually trigger an update check and download new chapters when they drop, directly from the device
  • File Browser Status Icons: track your fanfiction based on status (Unread, Reading, Waiting for Chapter, New Chapter Available, Finished)
  • Pin Books to the Homescreen by pressing the back button, so you never lose your longfics again when you want to read shorter stories!
  • Menu navigation improvements: press and hold buttons to navigate 2-4 lines at a time, including the homescreen (ex. AO3 Library reachable with single long press of the right button)

Things I may work on in the future:

  • Fandom Auto-Sort: auto-sort stories by fandom through virtual folders
  • AO3 Library sorting and filtering
  • Rudimentary AO3 Browser (unclear if usable enough to warrant implementation)

Source code and bin file for AvesO3, as well as additional info on the features: https://github.com/SiliconAves/AvesO3
Flashing works exactly the same as Crosspoint (flash from the website) UNLOCKED DEVICES ONLY.

Since this is my first project, suggestions and contributions are welcome.
All the credit for Crosspoint firmware goes to the Crosspoint team: without them, none of this would be possible!
