Lisbon looked so pretty in this episode, maybe it was the determination to take down Volker

As I’m watching seasons 4 and 5, I’m starting to feel sorry for Lisbon, and Jane’s treatment of her. I know that Jane’s treatment of her is because he’s scared of losing another important person in his life, so he keeps her close but still always an arms length away. Lisbon mentions in earlier seasons that one day she will be fired because of Jane and that’s the way it will be, accepting her fate but also showing her loyalty to Jane. Yet Jane tends to overlook and dismiss her and then makes jokes at any given opportunity in response to these situations. One episode that comes to mind is 4x24 when Lisbon hasn’t seen Jane for 6 months and can’t sleep because is worried about Jane, just for him to laugh it off in the church and ignore and dismiss her feelings. I know he is a deeply traumatised person, with a fear of people being close but sometimes his treatment of Lisbon was cruel and I felt that throughout seasons 4 and 5 she deserved better than the treatment she was given. She was always understanding and even occasionally willing to look the other way, but Jane constantly dismissed her.

During the earlier seasons, I was a supporter of Jisbon but as the seasons go on, sometimes it feels Lisbon is better off without Jane and he is essentially ruining her life. Even by season 7, despite Lisbon clearly feeling emotionally happier, it seems by the end of the series her whole life is directed by Jane’s decisions and she essentially sacrifices her whole life and career for Jane.
