Deceased Spouse and Retirement Questions
Unsure if this is the right forum but I'm asking for my frustrated mom- she'd been on hold for days just to get an appointment to ask some questions.. she may not even need the appointment depending on the answers to this circumstance... She just got the appointment - it's not until October.
Can anyone offer assistance/direction here.
If I am fra and want to collect my deceased spouse’s benefits, which are lower than what mine will be?Can I do that or is it an automatic deferral to whichever is higher. (The benefit to me in waiting is that I can collect dad’s and mine will continue to increase by 8% annually until I’m 70 (2029.).
Can the monthly benefit be retroactive to my fra (07/2026)
Will collecting his reduce or impact my own negatively in any way (I’m pretty sure it doesn’t)
