Has anyone else had their provisional degree certificate rejected for Master's admissions in Austria?
Hi everyone.
Is anyone else struggling with Austrian universities rejecting provisional degree certificates for Winter Semester applications?
I am a recent Computer Engineering graduate from Spain (240 ECTS) applying for a Master's programme at JKU Linz. I have completed all requirements, but due to the Spanish Ministry of Education taking 6–12 months to issue final diplomas and the European Diploma Supplement (SET), I can only provide official provisional documentation at this stage.
I have submitted:
- The official native digital Provisional Degree Certificate and Academic Transcript (240 ECTS, GPA 7.62/10) with embedded cryptographic signatures and verifiable CSV codes.
- Officially notarised copies and sworn English translations.
Despite Spanish law giving the provisional certificate identical legal validity, the admissions portal/office keeps demanding the final physical diploma and SET, and they haven't replied to my latest emails explaining the situation.
Has anyone else faced this exact issue with JKU, TU Wien, or other Austrian universities?
I really want to start the course as soon as possible and would appreciate hearing if anyone else is in the same boat or found a workaround!
Thanks!
