Hi all, looking for some perspective.

My (30m) mum (54f) has advanced breast cancer that’s spread to her brain, and we’ve been told she likely has around 3 months left.

She’s mostly bedbound (left-side weakness, catheter), and her doctors have stopped chemo due to her condition and overall quality of life.

Recently, she’s had a bit of improvement in mobility (can briefly stand and transfer), but this is from steroids, not because the cancer is improving.

The problem is that my grandparents and wider family see this as her “getting better” and are pushing for chemo to restart. My husband and I feel this is likely the final stage, and that the focus should be on comfort and making the most of the time she has left.

It’s creating a lot of tension, they’re angry at the doctors, and I feel stuck between being realistic and being seen as negative.

Has anyone dealt with family being in denial like this? How did you navigate it?
