This isn’t the typical aitah but more of a what would you do but I really need advice. So for a little bit of backstory a couple months ago, one of the two main managers of the store got fired and ever since the other manager has been working in place for her so she’s basically working for both of them. For example she has been doing doubles like back to back you know just working more than she should be. so this has been going on for a couple months now and she’s now very sick because where we work is super hot, so she’s now very sick and she’s out for a week to recover and get rest. so another manager from a different store who used to be the manager of this store that I work at is coming in place for her for a week. today was the first day that I was working with him. He came yesterday. we were talking and he was asking me what I work tomorrow (technically now today) I told him I work 2 to 10 and he was basically asking me if I wanna come in at 12 o’clock and work a 10 hour shift 12 to 10. I’m 18 years old (F) and this is my first job that I’ve ever had. I’ve worked here for almost 2 years now, it’s always been that regular employees cannot get overtime by any means. only managers can because we’re already limited on how many hours we can actually get and give. so regular employees cannot get overtime but he was asking me if I can work for 10 hours basically you know I’m like fuck no because who the fuck wants to work a 10 hour shift nobody would be jumping with joy to say yes let me work for 10 hours fucking straight! but back to the story he kept on asking me and asking me and asking me and I literally was saying no no no no like shooting it down several times that he asked me and then the next time that he asked me he just says oh pick a time 10 or 12 to come in tomorrow and I said if I have to, I would say 12 but— and then he just walked away and said all right 12 it is. What should I even do because I quite literally told him several times no, I am not working for 10 hours. because well first of all this place that I work at is already a shit hole the other night it was 88° in there. that is not any type of conditions that I would want to be working in let alone work for 10 hours straight??? It’s fucking ridiculous! And mind you if he is in the store that means he brought six other employees from that other store to help us out. so for one I’m not needed for two I’m a cashier and from 8 to 4 there is literally gonna be another cashier, so I’m not even needed for cashiering. so there would literally be no reason for me to even be there if I’m coming in 2 to 10 anyways so why would I even need to come in 12 to 10? I’m just worried of being screamed at for no reason or possibly being fired like don’t get me wrong he would be chewing me a tremendous favor by firing me because I fucking hate working there anyway, but I feel like it’s the principal. What would you do???? What should I do???
