Manon and her cat Spoon
My goal with this post is not to hate on Manon or her cat. I just wanna educate you guys on the Scottish Fold, and then you can decide for yourself what you think of this breed and Manon’s decision to get a Scottish Fold.
Scottish Fold cats have a genetic health condition called osteochondrodysplasia, which affects their cartilage development throughout the body and produce the ears that “fold”.
All Scottish Fold cats are affected by FOCD, a developmental abnormality. This disorder causes not only the folded ears, but also skeletal abnormalities that likely lead to painful, progressive degenerative joint disease, sometimes manifesting at a young age.
Due to these concerns, breeding Scottish Fold cats is prohibited in several countries.
Now, we don’t know if she rescued this cat or adopted it. I don’t know if she’s aware about what I just explained. I just wanted to educate you guys on what these cats go through.
