Sales calls

It’s been a while since I first thought about this, but honestly, I feel that interpreting for any sales department is unfair to the interpreter because, technically, we’re the ones helping sell whatever the company wants to sell.

I’ve been interpreting for over a year now, and I’ve handled a ton of doordash sales calls. I don’t know how doordash pays its sales team, but if they work on a commission-based model, I really think interpreters should get a share of that as well.

I want to clarify tho, that this isn’t against doordash employees at all. It’s not their fault that the company doesn’t want to invest in a dedicated Spanish-speaking sales team. But I really don’t think we should be handling sales calls if we’re not getting anything out of them (specially when they do it on a commission-based model). I don’t know, that’s just how I see it.
