Taylor’s Traumas?
I often find myself thinking of TFP’s “traumas”. Mostly trying to figure out exactly what’s happened to her but I tend to come up with the bio dad stuff. Do you know the others?
Here's my real issue: She has the luxury to wallow. She can afford to spiral publicly because there's a cushion under her like family, money, an audience that validates her. Meanwhile, so many people (especially in marginalized communities) experience worse abandonment, worse poverty, worse instability, and they cannot slip. One mistake costs them their job, their housing, their kids. They have to compartmentalize and keep going.
So when Taylor constantly centers her "trauma" as the reason she acts out, it feels tone-deaf. It feels like someone who has never had to face real consequences for fragility using a relatively mild wound as an identity.
I'm not saying she doesn't hurt. I'm saying: Other people hurt just as much or more with far less, and they don't get to act like this. At what point is it just an excuse?
Curious if anyone else feels this way, or if I'm being too harsh.
