Hi everyone! I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about UST SHS reconsideration, so I thought I’d share my experience from last year. Hopefully, this helps those who are still waiting.
A little background:
When I applied for the USTET, I chose BE/ABM because I was still undecided about what course I wanted to pursue in college. When the USTET results came out, I wasn’t qualified. I didn’t meet the required scores in Math and Mental Ability. Right after seeing my results, I immediately started researching the reconsideration process.
My Reconsideration Timeline
April 28 – USTET Results released
May 15–31 – Reconsideration application period
June 12 – Received an email that I passed the initial screening and was invited for a face-to-face interview
June 20 – Interview day
August 5 – Reconsideration results released (I was part of the 3rd/last batch, and my accepted strand was already reflected in the portal.)
During my interview, they asked if I was open to being placed in a different strand. I said yes, since my priority was really getting into UST SHS. As you can see, I waited for more than a month after my interview before receiving my final results. During that time, I didn’t have a backup school—which, looking back, I honestly don’t recommend. My mindset then was simply, “UST or nothing.”
Fast forward to today, I’m now a MAD Senior. Honestly, I never imagined myself ending up in this strand, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I made the most out of my junior year, met amazing people, discovered new interests, and now I’m even more excited for senior year.
To everyone who’s still waiting for their reconsideration results: don’t lose hope, but at the same time, be prepared for whatever the outcome may be. Things may not always go exactly as planned, but sometimes they lead you somewhere even better.
Good luck, aspiring Thomasians! 💛
