Resigning from a full time job for the first time help
Hi all,
I just received an offer for a new job in a city I’d much prefer to live in, and with much better hours than I have now too. However, my current full-time job is in broadcast so it has super weird schedules with everyone’s days off and hours varying. My current job JUST started heavily training me on a new job function too, and I just had a meeting with my supervisor yesterday where we talked about how excited they are for me to learn this new function as well as how they’re so happy with my performance. I just received this new offer though and I really do plan on taking it. I will submit my 2 weeks notice later this week, but I don’t have any overlapping hours with my boss the day I need to resign. Should I just send an email without a meeting? Or should I try and call him to give him a heads up I’m sending an email while he’s on the clock for the day after I’ve left for the day? I am not back in office until the day I must put in my 2 weeks notice so I can’t tell him ahead of time. I should add that I’ve only been there barely a year and it was my first job post college so I’ve learned this field just isn’t for me and finally got an offer in a field I care more about (and actually related more directly to my schooling). It’s not like I’ve been there for a long time. I’m just not really sure certain what to do so if anyone has advice I’ll take it
