Hey everyone,
I'm considering buying a used Toyota Camry Hybrid (2018–2021, Ascent or Ascent Sport) in Melbourne and trying to get a realistic picture of the actual monthly running costs before committing.
I've done some research but would love to hear from real owners. Specifically curious about:
- Fuel consumption — what are you actually getting in L/100km day-to-day? Mostly city/suburban driving for me, around 1,200–1,500 km/month.
- Servicing costs — how much are you paying per service and how often? Any surprises?
- Registration (rego) — roughly how much are you paying annually in Victoria?
- Any unexpected costs — anything that caught you off guard after buying? Battery issues, repairs, etc.?
- General ownership experience — happy with it after 1–2 years? Any regrets?
For context: I'd be buying a used one around 30,000–50,000 km, planning to drive it for about 2 years then sell. Main priority is low running costs and good resale value.
Appreciate any input from actual owners — the official numbers from Toyota always seem a bit optimistic!
