Trying to transition 12m baby to crib. How long did it take you?
At 4 months I started cosleeping with my daughter because she went from taking bottles of pumped milk to exclusively nursing. Recently she turned 1 year and I am 39 weeks pregnant, so my husband and I are trying to transition her to the crib so we can finally get our bed back. Have zero plans of cosleeping with the new baby.
My 1 year old was super velcro, nursing every hour, and I couldnt even get up to pee without waking her for the longest time. Opposite to what other people say, as a light sleeper, cosleeping has been a nightmare since about 6 months. I am exhausted with the constant stirring and climbing on me through the night.. Fortunately, very recently, she has reached a point where I can actually get out of bed and she stays asleep for hours without waking. Figured now is the right time to start the crib transition.
I am 100% against cry it out. The plan is to stay with her in the room until she falls asleep in her crib and then just sooth her and put her back to sleep when she wakes during the night. Tonight is the first night. she has already gone down, but is stirring quite a bit. No crying though. I imagine its going to take some time for her to adjust and we are going to have some sleepless nights until it happens.
Just curious for others that tried a similar method of transition. How long did it take for your baby to adjust and start sleeping through the night?
