Looking to swap my clunky Leonarks for Knee Pro + STX 400.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to cut some weight from my leg gear and hopefully boost my mobility a bit. I’m 170cm (5'7") and I've been rocking a pair of integrated Leonark knee/shin guards for a while. I actually had to trim the bottom of the shins a bit to get a better fit, but they still feel a bit bulky and restrictive during deep lunges or fast footwork.

I’ve seen a lot of people mention the "meta" combo of Knee Pro Ultra Flex III paired with field hockey shins, and I’m specifically looking at the STX Stallion 400s for the shins.

Before I pull the trigger, I have a few questions for those who’ve made a similar jump:

Is the weight/agility difference actually noticeable? Compared to a clunky all-in-one set like the Leonarks, does this combo feel significantly lighter or "faster" on the feet?

Any fitment issues for my height? At 170cm, do the Knee Pros and the Stallion 400s overlap awkwardly or clash with each other?

Are there any other high-mobility setups I should check out? If there's a better "hidden" or lightweight kit I'm missing, I'd love to hear it.

Appreciate any advice or insight you guys can share. Thanks!

Thoughts on the "Sword Dynamic Coefficient" tournament rule? It seems to ban well-balanced feders.

Hi everyone,

I recently came across the ruleset for a tournament (Clash of Steel in Taiwan) and noticed a specific requirement for federschwerts. They use a "Sword Dynamic Coefficient" (SDC), and the rule states that a sword's SDC must not be lower than 7.5.

How to measure your sword's "Sword dynamics coefficient"

The formula they use is:

SDC = (Weight in kg * POB in cm) / Total Length in m

I was curious, so I ran the numbers for some of the most popular feders in the community—specifically from SIGI. It turns out, this rule bans them completely. Based on their official specs:

SIGI Concept: (1.58 * 6) / 1.35 = 7.02

SIGI Standard Feder: (1.58 * 5.5) / 1.35 = 6.44

Since both results are well below the 7.5 minimum, neither sword would be allowed. Looking at the formula, it seems to heavily penalize swords with great balance (a POB closer to the crossguard) and lighter weights.

I'm really curious how other feders hold up to this rule. If you use a Regenyei, Ensifer, Kvetun, Aureus, or any other brand, could you run your specs through this formula and share your SDC in the comments? I'd love to know how many standard feders are actually banned by this.

Has anyone else encountered this SDC rule in other tournaments? Does it make sense from a historical or safety perspective to restrict weapons this way, or do you think it unfairly targets well-balanced, popular feders?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!
