I’ve been seeing people say over the last year they would love to have gruden as their head coach but is really just vibes cause resume seems to have a ton of revisionist history.

His record as head coach combined regular season and playoffs is 117-112 (.511), made the playoffs only 5 times in 14 full years as head coach

And in those last 2 playoff appearances he didn’t make it past the wild card round, there was only times 3 he did. He truly peaked from 2000-2002, then went downhill. What do you think?

Hes mostly mid but has some good seasons at random every now then, but at the same time idk if the stats lie cause i don’t remember him being that great outside of 2016 and for the saints from 2023-2024 he was very mid using the eye test then the stats below suggest.

This is Derek Carr’s ANY/A rank compared to every qb each year of his career with minimum 250 passing attempts:

2014: #28

2015: #18

2016: #7

2017: #15

2018: #18

2019: #9

2020: #6

2021: #12

2022: #19

2023: #10

2024: #4

Certainly knowing the first 6 seasons as a starter for both, one isn’t considered an overpaid bum who was never great and the other isn’t considered a top 5 guy constantly with countless new excuses for coming short every year. No double standard whatsoever by people 😅
