I resigned 2 weeks ago, had informed my L1 manager I'm planning to leave 2 months before. He is very supportive, and now that project is completed, he doesn't mind 30 days release (official is 90).

After asking for early release, got written approval from L1 manager. Project director and HR both said that you don't have any dependency, so we'll let you go.

And all of a sudden, yesterday I got an email from the project director saying we need you to build some automations, we can't let you go. We'll decide on a release date later.

The problem is, since I had prior approval, I promised 30 days to the next company I'm joining. It's a very good opportunity, they're giving decent hike and I don't want to lose it. Have more offers in progress but all are in 30-35 days range.

What should I do now? I have been a hard working employee, and have good relations with all team members and seniors. I never expected them to do this, and I don't think any amount of begging or pleading will change their mind.

The amount of work they're asking for definitely won't be possible in the next 2 weeks.
