GPS mowing with tall trees surrounding yard
I am considering a robotic mower but have some concerns. I live in New England. My yard is about .4 acres of grass surrounded by woods with large very tall white pines, oaks and some other trees. The yard surrounds the house and is quite irregularly shaped with lots of curves and sections. I don’t want to install wires. Also often small branches drop from the trees as well as acorns and of course lots of leaves in the fall.
I’ve been using a lawn tractor that is getting on in years and am considering replacing it with a robotic unit. Am I going to be happy with the decision? Main concerns: I’ve heard gps based units may have trouble with tall trees. Also, will it be able to handle items falling on the lawn. I travel a lot and hope to have a solution that I can be confident will mow regularly that doesn’t get confused or stuck. Advice please.
