I found this fish in a small pond near my house in Leiden, in the Netherlands. He is fairly large (at least 1 foot), and seems too big for the small body of water. The pond doesn’t link up to any larger bodies of water. I didn’t think the pond was very deep, although maybe it is, and I’ve only ever seen tiny fish there (max. 5 cm).

P.S I can’t tell if that’s fishing line coming from the back fin region?
