Throw some appreciation towards Big Bertha. Aside from being able to throw in 2 kids bikes and a pram into the boot, she makes no sense around town with her horrendous turning circle and thirsty D5 2.4 personality.
But - Get this this thing on the motorway and she’ll chomp through the miles with absolute ease. Massage seats, heated seats, air cooled / air con seats, Bose speakers… love it.
We loaded the boot and put the kids in, 5 hours each way and didn’t miss a beat. There is a small coolant leak from a small crack in the radiator but she did the 10 hours (plus travel once we got there, maybe 4 hours total) without it visibly dropping. It’s basically a self flushing coolant system, with some manual intervention once every so often!
Well done Bertha. I won’t be selling you anytime soon! 2012 and no sign of any corrosion, unlike my other 2010 Toyota run around. I’m very attached to this car. Awesome family car & a true Volvo tank.
