Cars look great and more interesting when photographed from a low angle. 😏

And because the light was so great and I didn't had a camera with me, I did it with my incredibly smart mobile. They can do everything!

But see for yourself ...

Volvo servicing price difference

I have a 2023 S60 and it is due for servicing. The dealership from where I purchased it is showing a $600 servicing price but another dealership around 30 miles from me shows around $350. Does anyone know why such a difference?

Will I get a loaner from the service center where I did not purchase my car?

Btw my car is still under CPO warranty if that changes anything

Would love to hear others' thoughts

Never update software?

Currently my 2022 XC60 is functioning normally, running Android Auto as it came from the dealer (used car). I am tempted to just never update it, based on what I see can happen. Would that make sense?

I'm not sure why I'm making this post - maybe just need support

I really love my XC60 but buying it has turned out to be one of the worst financial decisions I've ever made. It's been paid off for years, but my god the maintenance... I think I've finally come to my senses (or have I?) and I'm seriously considering selling it and just buying a Honda. I have responsibilities and a family and as it continues to climb in miles, it becomes increasingly difficult to justify keeping it. The problem, of course, comes when I test drive a Toyota, or a Honda or anything else sensible, I compare it to the Volvo, with its refined interior, smooth ride and yadda yadda yadda, and of course the practical Japanese car is inferior across all dimensions. (You call those taillights?) I thought owning my Volvo outright would mean I could afford to keep it for a long time, but it's starting to seem that's not what it means.

I love Volvos and I would probably own a bunch of them if I had the money, but it's sad to realize that owning even one means mortgaging my future to some extent. This post has no real point. Just hoping for a little support I guess or wanting to know if this is the normal state of Volvo ownership.

Volvo Connect Plus

Heya! A few days ago I got a notification that the connect plus subscription for my 2022 V90 is about to expire. I remember seeing some posts here where people often got their sub extended when having the car serviced at the authorized garage so I reached out to mine in Nuremberg.

And this is what I got back: As of July 2024, the Abonnement is no longer automatically renewed by the service.
You can renew it directly via the app and pay the cost through the app.

I wanted to check with you if this is a common practice of Connect Plus atm and all I can do is go to the app and pay €99 per year?

Thank you!

Ex60 interior - a mixed bag!

Had a chance to try the interior for a couple of minutes this weekend and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience.

The good

- It feels quite roomy. Like airy. Difficult to describe but not cramped in any way.

- You could instantly feel that seats are at volvo standard

- Both screens looked quite crisp with good viewing angle and bright. Snappy as well

- Center console (the console itself) didnt flex like the ex30. It was fine

The bad

- Interior "door handle". A very poor design choice. Not intuit to grab. Also I think it will most likely not hold up either and look like crap after a couple of years.

- Steering wheel. The buttons are fine but the design is not premium, in my opinion. The feel of the joypads are just not that great either. Not terrible but all in all a strange decision to take something that generic feeling very "chinese parts bin", it doesnt feel Volvo at all.

- Front shelf. Maybe its good but my instant reaction is that it is a little bit ugly. Feels a little bit like a "trash bin". The plastic in front on the floor are hard and cheap. It just gives the car a special tonality that is hard to grasp.

The ugly

- Center console again. The retractable cup holder looks very cheap and feels cheap too. This almost ruin the entire cabin feel because not executed on pair with the rest of the design.

Verdict

It´s not like when I first saw the xc60 back in the day and thought, woav this is really nice I want one! To be honest, I´m not yet fully convinced about the ex60 but it sure has grown on me. When you enter the car for the first time, you can feel it is quite nice. Not a slam dunk, but nice. And that is a little bit of the problem. They could have easily with some more effort made the care super nice. Like that darn center console, why couldn't they make it more premium feel?

So yeah didnt feel instantly at home so will not reserve one at the moment but will be interesting to see how good it drives.

Another "I parked next to a Volvo" post

V70 looks smaller even though it has a lot more space. V60 is mine

Help me pick my first wagon

Hello all! As the title states, I am in the market for my first Volvo wagon! I’ve had a vested interest in learning about cars, and while I’m new to the game I’m passionate and excited. That being said, I’ve got my heart set on a wagon. Totaled my jeep and I’m ready to get something new and put some love and tears into it.
The two options on my radar right now are a 1999 V70, 91k miles and a known ETM problem. Still drives, but needs some TLC. The other option is a 2008 xc70, 180k miles and nothing of note other than the occasional 02 sensor light.
Thing is, I MUCH prefer the body of the ‘99. I know a lot of people would aim for the newer car but with the significantly lower mileage and my love for the look, I’m interested in the ‘99 more than the ‘08. I’m not knowledgeable enough about cars at this time to know entirely what I’m getting myself into though and wanted some other opinions before I do something stupid. I know it’s gonna be more money than it’s worth either way, I have intentions to modify and learn hands on with this car so it’s less about value and more about a labor of love. But is the ‘99 just asking for trouble? What should I be looking out for with either car when I go see them? Thank you for your time! 🙏

Position light stuck on

Well this is a first for me at least. Why is my passenger side position light stuck on? Cars off, position light switch is not on, and I’m just confused. Won’t this drain my battery? It’s not even as bright as it should be, it’s more dim than usual. Any answers here?

I need to rant about the XC90 AC (2025)

The fact that it turns off every time you stop at a light is so infuriating, and you have no option to turn that feature off. I. AM. HOT

28 years after it was announced, Volvo fixed a still-open recall on my car!

My 940 was recently at the main Volvo dealer for a timing belt when they noticed a 1998 recall for the brake servo had never been completed. I’d seen it on the MOT history checker, but thought it must be a mistake. Credit to the dealer: they couldn’t get OEM parts, but sourced what they needed from Classic Swede and completed the recall anyway. 28 years might be one of the longest ever gaps between recall announcement and fix?

Warm/hot buttonpads

I've noticed that when driving for longer periods of time, these buttons get pretty warm and in my opinion sometimes even hot. The ones on the right side of the steering wheel get warmer than the ones on the left. Has anyone also experienced this?

Rules are the rules but 4 whites?

Ok, technically not four pure Volvo's but a happy coincidence still!

Trying to repair/revitalize trim on 2004 s60

The plastic outer trim on my 2004 s60 has faded and peeled in areas and I would like to fix it. Repainting it is an option, but I’m not sure what the exact color of this trim is, so that might be difficult. Are there any other solutions?

Is the Volvo V60 a great choice?

I'm a 32M young professional working in tech. I have to replace one of our vehicles this year and I'm leaning towards a Volvo. I absolutely love the XC90, but a bit outside of my price range right now so looking towards a XC60 or V60.

I found this vehicle: https://www.carmax.com/car/28578839

If this is what I select, then what all do you recommend purchasing as far as warranty? Can I purchase a maintenance plan too?

My gf wants us to get something practical, but I'm a huge car guy that loves what Volvo has to offer. What are maintenance fees like? What are some regular issues you've had with your v60 or XC60?

Thanks in advance!

Got Mogged 🫢

I think my ES90 usually has pretty strong road presence, as most Volvos do… but next to a Purosangue… 👀
