A 50k Trail Training Plan, for beginners

Howdy all, I’ve seen a few folks ask about the transition from road running to their first trail 50k.

I’ll post snaps of the plan overview for an athlete I wrote this winter. At the plan kickoff, they were at about 3-4 hours a week of road running volume, and about 2 hours max for their long run.

Happy to answer some questions. There’s lots more to our plans that define workout types, how we adjust periodization for each athlete, how we decide for each athletes whether they train by time or mileage, and whether the gauge effort by RPE or HR (or a combo)
