tvOS 26.4 causing audio cutouts with LG eARC + Sonos Arc Ultra — anyone found a reliable fix?
Since updating to tvOS 26.4, I keep getting audio cutouts that only resolve after pausing and playing multiple times. My setup is Apple TV 4K connected via HDMI eARC to an LG TV, with a Sonos Arc Ultra as the soundbar.
From what I can tell, the new Continuous Audio Connection feature (which gets enabled by default after the update) seems to be the culprit. It sits under Settings > Video and Audio > Audio Format, below the Atmos toggle.
I have tried:
- Turning off Continuous Audio Connection
- Changing LG TV digital audio output from Passthrough to Auto
- Full power cycle of both TV and Arc Ultra
Disabling Continuous Audio Connection reduced the frequency but has not fully eliminated the cutouts. LG + Passthrough seems to be the recommended combo for Arc Ultra, but that is exactly where the instability seems to be happening now.
A few specific questions:
- Has anyone with the same LG eARC + Sonos Arc Ultra combo found a setting combination that gives stable audio with tvOS 26.4?
- For those who kept Continuous Audio Connection on, did the cutouts eventually stabilise or get worse?
- Is there any benefit to doing a Reset Video Settings on the Apple TV in this scenario?
Happy to share more details about my LG model or Sonos app settings if it helps narrow things down.
