Stringfoot

I found this poor guy on a very busy street. He was lying on the pavement trying to avoid moving at all cost and limping away when needed. I initially thought he had a broken foot.
I took him home with me. I have just placed him in a huge box and taken the opportunity to observe. That’s when I realised he had a stringfoot. I am watching videos and reading tutorials since I have never freed a stringfoot before. I’ll free him soon though.
Watching the video he seems to be limping from higher in the leg. What do you think?
I was planning to free his foot then keep him in for 1 or 2 days. Is it a good approach?
