achilles tendinitis

i LOVE walking. have loved it all my life and recently over the last few years have made 10-15k steps (sometimes 20) a regular part of my daily routine, and it’s done wonders for my fitness journey/stamina, mental health and eating disorder recovery, and soul. it’s just amazing walking around especially in the summer seeing all the beautiful flowers, the people, i love walking in the rain too.

however, my achilles tendinitis just started flaring up again suddenly. i did ballet as a teenager and developed the tendinitis first then, i went to PT and was instructed to leave it alone and do ice baths to help flares, so that’s exactly what i’m doing right now. it’s so disheartening because walking is such a special and important part of my day but i know resting is priority so i can get back to it without making my injury worse. im kind of a dummy sometimes and i felt it starting to hurt yesterday but kept up with my long walk anyways, and now it’s definitely worse today. i regret it.

so, besides ice baths, rest, and elevation, does anyone have any good tips for rehabbing this? definitely NOT asking for medical advice as i am already diagnosed and realize this is reddit, just wondering if there are any stretches etc that worked well for people, and would also love to know about anyone’s experience with it
