Hi everyone, first of all sorry for brining this other disease here but it seems the NMO subreddit is nearly dead and people recommended that I write it here instead.
After recent trip to Bali we returned to Vietnam and my wife (30 y/o) started experiencing extreme pain in her hips, legs, and even in her toes. At first the doctors assumed it was herniated disc, gave her painkillers, and after a day in the hospital she returned home. She even went out and didn't feel any pain or other symptoms, but on the next day here legs started feeling numb and she could not walk. She couldn't pee either.
We took her to the hospital, and the doctors began suspecting NMO. Moved to another hospital with more equipment and started treating her with steroids. She's been on steroids for 3 days so far, she still cannot walk or pee, although she can move her legs a little. Doctors stopped the steroids to give some time to observe how her body's reacting to the treatment. I hope that plasma exchange will not be required, doctors say she's not in such bad condition for plasma exchange.
I'm trying to be by her side and trying to be her shoulder while I spend time with her in the hospital, but whenever I leave the hospital I'm just a mess and I can't stop crying, it's like our world was split into before and after the diagnosis. I don't want to make this rant about me because she's going through so much more, but I guess I just want to hear some positive stories about others treating their disease.
Honestly I'm just reviewing our pictures from Bali from a week ago and I just want to get back there, we were so happy and didn't think about anything. And now we've faced this terrible disease... I just hope she'll be able to walk soon and that we'll be able to have a normal life together with our kid.
