Is this normal?
My friend’s wedding is in June 2027, still 13 months away. I’m a bridesmaid, and she already wants my measurements to order my suit (edit: yes, a suit is what I prefer to wear as a masc gay). I mentioned that I’m actively trying to lose weight and worry the suit won’t fit by then, but she said we could just order a bigger size and tailor it later.
Am I unreasonable for thinking ordering a suit this far in advance is too early? Would it be rude to say I’d feel more comfortable waiting a few more months before ordering?
I’m also struggling because the other bridesmaids get to choose their own dresses and colors within her theme, but since I’m the only one wearing a suit, she wants to fully choose both the suit style and my color. The suit she picked isn’t something I’d feel comfortable in — I never wear high-waisted pants or long suit jackets. I’m new to being in weddings, so I don’t know what’s normal or how much input bridesmaids are usually allowed to have.
And honestly… are suits really that hard to find? I didn’t even plan this far ahead for my own wedding.
