Hello fine people, I have multidirectional instability in my left shoulder that was discovered while recovering from a traumatic dislocation of my other shoulder. The humeral head subluxates postero-inferiorly when I flex/abduct the shoulder over my head in internal rotation. I can avoid this by not internally rotating the shoulder or by engaging my rotator cuff and scapular stabilizers, but I’m considering getting some kind of brace to help stabilize the joint while I work on getting PT to help mitigate the instability. I’m a firefighter/paramedic and also work in an emergency department, and my generally loose joints have never been an issue for me until this accident with my right shoulder (which would have dislocated even without the laxity) but I would like to get ahead of this instability issue with my other shoulder since hypermobility seems to run in my family (I have a sibling with hEDS) and I am in my mid-20s and starting to notice the effects of the physical abuse I’ve subjected my body to through my line of work. If anybody has products or techniques that work for them for this issue, please drop your recommendations here! Thanks!
