I’m trying to test influencer marketing for a small project, but I don’t want to start with huge creators or agencies yet. I’m more interested in smaller creators who have a real audience and decent engagement.
The hard part is figuring out who is actually worth paying. Some accounts have good numbers but barely any real comments, while others look smaller but seem to have a much more active audience.
For people who have done paid collabs before, how do you usually find creators that are reliable? Do you reach out manually, use a platform, or just search through TikTok/Instagram/YouTube yourself?
Also, what do you usually check before paying someone? Engagement rate, comments, niche match, past brand deals, or something else?
