I think I might ruin my future by choosing the wrong college—help

My qualifications: Just passed Class 12 (Commerce Stream

)

I’m honestly feeling confused and a bit anxious about choosing the right college.

I’ve been looking at college websites and talking to counselors, but everything seems too perfect, and I’m not sure what to trust. I’ve heard from others that the reality of colleges—placements, faculty, and campus life—can be very different from what’s shown.

Here’s my situation:

  • Stream: Commerce
  • Interested specialization: (e.g.BBA , B.com and BCA )
  • Budget: Around no budget restiction
  • Preferred location: (e.g., Uttar Pradesh / Delhi / open to other states no any specific )

I really want to make an informed decision, but I don’t know how to get honest, real insights.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Did you regret your college choice?
  • Were you misled by counselors or marketing?
  • How did you find real information before joining?
  • If you were in my position again, what would you do differently?

I’d really appreciate any honest advice or personal experiences. I don’t want to make a decision that could negatively affect my future.

Most students regret not knowing the “real reality” before joining a college

Why is it so hard to find honest college reviews before taking admission?

Most information online feels promotional, and students usually find the real reality only after joining.

So I’m doing a short survey to understand:

  • What students actually struggle to find before admission
  • Whether talking to real students/alumni would help
  • If this is genuinely a big problem or not

It would really help me if you could fill this 2-minute form honestly.

I need genuine responses because I have to present the survey results to my school principal to prove whether this problem is actually real or not.

I’m honestly scared of choosing the wrong college.

I keep hearing things from counselors and seeing perfect-looking brochures, but deep down it feels like a lot of it might be misleading. I’ve heard from some people that the reality of their college was completely different from what they were promised—placements, faculty, campus life, everything.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Did you regret your college choice?
  • Were you misled by counselors or marketing?
  • What’s something you wish you knew before joining?

Right now, I don’t know how to find real and honest information about colleges—like the actual curriculum, teaching quality, and opportunities.

If you were in my position again, what would you do differently to avoid making a bad decision?

I really don’t want to mess up something this important, so any honest advice or experience would mean a lot.
