XG32UCWMG, first OLED and first issues.

Just bought this monitor, it looks great. But..

First off, I didn't expect the glossy finish to be this reflective, literal mirror. I even asked if having a lamp on the wall behind me would be an issue, and I was told no. When gaming it doesn't show, but for example - now writing this post for reddit, where theres alot of black background, I see the light all the time.

Do you use your PC in total darkness with glossy coat?

Now, the monitor specific problem is that the LEDs on the back don't light up at all. When I turn it on nothing happes. Do I have to install that horrible program Armory Crate again? Or is this a hardware issue?

This will be a lengthy post because im not sure whats the issue, and if its one issue or multiple. Been trying to fix it for a while, but it seems its a problem at the system level and I'm not sure how to proceed. I bought a new PC, and it's now been a couple of months, in which I experienced some very minor issues, that I now think might be all caused by the same thing.

So:

  1. Rarely, but sometimes my monitor goes black for a few seconds and then the picture comes back. While the screen is black, I hear the plug-in/plug-out Windows sound. (as if I plugged in a controller). Happens rarely and fixes it self under 10 seconds, so I didn't bother to try find a fix.
  2. Discord can't be opened; it's little icon sits in the task bar as a background running app, but clicking the icon doesnt open Discord. Right clicking and quitting isn't possible either. I have to kill the process via Task manager and re-open the app. Annoying and I tried fixing it but failed, however it's still easy to manage because I can kill it in Task manager.
  3. Newest issue, Chrome won't open up. A window opens and it's fully gray, while the cursor is showing a loading animation, nothing happens and I just close the window. Killing the process in the Task manager and relaunching the app doesn't fix it either. So I have to restart my PC to get it to work. Now this is a hassle and I gotta find a solution.

So, I've been busy and didn't have time to properly research this issue and quite frankly wouldn't know how to frame the question correctly. Chat GPT (which I do not trust, hence this post) says that it's probably a GPU/GPU driver issue. For my Chrome issue it provided some other fixes, such as a clean reinstall, none have worked and it's assured it a GPU issue and that I should do a GPU clean reinstall (DDU method).

Also I would like to add that I have had Armory crate installed in the past. It caused an issue where I couldn't run a game, I did a clean uninstall using the asus uninstaller tool. I mention this because I've seen that Armory crate is a borderline virus, and I always wondered if it did some damage to the system.

Chat GPT also mentioned something about hardware acceleration but I have no clue whats that about.

Sorry for the long post, please advise.
