Is dishwasher installed correctly

I just had a dishwasher installed from Costco it’s Samsung with top control panel. I have laminated countertop. Once the technician fully installed it, I don’t see any buttons on top as there is about only 2mm space btw the control panel and shelf. Technician said it’s supposed to be like that. Once it finished the cycle and the door opened, I noticed moist pilled up under the shelf and I removed it a little with fingers and closed the door. After two hours I opened the door to put dirty dishes and there was moisture on the control panel buttons. I am afraid my control panel would stop working after a while. The tech guy said it’s installed correctly as it’s leveled and can’t do much. I asked him to come back and to leave the space on top he said it would look ugly and won’t be level. Is it supposed to be like that? What to do so my control panel stays dry and laminated wood is not damaged in future. Ugh I wished I ordered a front control panel. Please help
