Those of us that were successful on WW at one point

I'm curious, do you feel that your expectations with Zepbound are more realistic due to your past success with WW? I see MANY posts of people complaining about not losing a crazy amount of weight per week or per month month when on Zepbound.

When I was on WW and tracking points for every little thing that went in my mouth, always having cravings but having to deprive myself, being excited about "cheat meals" yet guilty at the same time, I was THRILLED to get 1-2 pounds lost on weigh in day. Normally, it was a little less than 1 pound.

Zepbound seems so "easy" compared to the mental toll that WW took on me, which is why I gained everything back over the last 8 years because I was just mentally exhausted from it. And now, to lose 1-2 pounds per week without the WW mental drain...I could cry!!

So, just curious...anyone else who was on WW in the past feel the same?

Quick history - I lost 60 pounds on WW in 2017-2018. Largely maintained with slight fluctuations until 2020. Then started gaining back alllll the weight from there. I tried to restart WW multiple times since then and I was mentally just so so so tired of obsessing over my food that I would always quit.

Zepbound has blown my mind this past week and a half!

Me trying to force down food the day after my shot…

Good news is I really don’t have any bad side effects after shot 2, just no appetite. But forcing myself to eat a little here and there to keep any nausea at bay. I seriously felt like my cucumbers and hummus were grub today 😆

Day 5 - Continue to be Surprised 😮

We have a Saturday morning tradition of breakfast from Chick-Fil-A. Got my egg white grill as usual and couldn’t even eat half of it. It just had no flavor and wasn’t appetizing. I got up and grabbed a banana instead.

Same last night - pizza Friday. Chicken and pineapple pizza. Couldn’t finish two slices from a medium pizza because it had no flavor and tasted like cardboard.

What is this magic?? 🤣

[Acne] Hormonal Acne Cured!

It’s crazy but ChatGPT did what no dermatologist could do for me the past 15 years. It was about 2 months of perfecting my plan using the AI tool, so I wanted to share it for anyone who may be at their wits end like I was.

My acne was painful and embarrassing and insurance wouldn’t cover any treatment. Their answer was simply - buy differin OTC or pay hundreds out of pocket for super intense treatments that my dermatologists were prescribing.

Like any routine, it’ll take a few weeks to clear up your current break out and purge what’s waiting under your skin. But after that, I have not had a single cystic flare up in three months!!

Nighttime Routine
- Wash face with Cetaphil Oily Skin DermaControl face wash and pat dry
- Every other night, apply Neutrogena On the Spot Acne treatment on my problem areas (chin, jawline, cheeks) for 10 minutes then rinse off and pat dry
- Every night apply The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%
- Every night apply CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

Morning/Shower Routine
- Rinse face only…that’s right, just rinse, no face wash. Sounds counterintuitive but it’s important.
- Apply CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
- Apply Covergirl BB smoothers as sunscreen if going outside. This isn’t daily so not necessarily part of the “routine” but important to note to be sure you put on SPF.

I’ve taken a picture of all the products I use and you can see my before/after results. No crazy expensive products or programs. I’ve got some scarring that will take some time to go away (and some freckles since it’s spring time!)

Do I still get pimples? Yes! But they are surface level, not painful, easily covered up, and disappear within two days. I also use hydrocolloid patches to help speed things up with those.

If anyone is losing hope of ever getting rid of their hormonal acne, give this a try and let me know how it goes for you. Wishing you the best!!

Walgreens Weight Management Program

I wanted to put this out there for anyone who may not know about this resource. Walgreens has a new Weight Management program where you can meet with a doctor or NP for a consult for starting/continuing on Zepbound (or other GLP-1s). You don't have to pay for a monthly membership like other programs out there - each visit is $49 flat.

In my case, I had a new PCP that went on maternity leave and I wouldn't have been able to see another doctor for weeks. Since my PCP is new for me, I didn't feel like I absolutely had to go see her and only her for the GLP-1 consult. My BMI is 31 and my cholesterol is a little high...nothing that warranted close monitoring from a PCP.

On a Sunday night, I completed an online form for a virtual visit with a Dr/NP, uploaded my labs from January, and met with an NP online who reviewed everything with me and answered all my questions. By Tuesday afternoon I had my first KwikPen delivered to my door.

A few things to know:

  • This program is not for those whose insurance covers the medication. It's mean for those using self pay (like LillyDirect).
  • You have to have gotten bloodwork done in the past 6 months. Otherwise, they will order labs and the process will slow down a few days while they wait for results.
  • You go back for virtual follow up appointments every month for the first few months to discuss side effects, progress, and increasing dosage (if you want). As mentioned, each visit is $49.
  • After a few months, if things are going smoothly, you can space out appointments so that you're only going when there's problems or you're interested in increasing dosage.

I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you have other health conditions where you would benefit from working closely with your PCP. However, if you're in a situation like mine where you really only see your PCP for yearly physicals and aren't super attached to them, this was such a seamless, no judgement experience.

I'll keep everyone posted if I change my opinion after having follow up visits. I hope this helps those who want to start this journey but don't know where to begin!
