Another burly boy. 35mm, 12.61g.
25k minted
These large quarter varieties turn up everywhere I go.
Comparison in photos. Enjoy the day.

Just a couple first year coins. The toonie was tricky to track down. I collect modern, so these are very key to the collection. Enjoy the day all.
Final batch run of the queens effigy. Less than 250k minted. Pretty neat transitional obverse, standard strike on the reverse. Certainly a keeper
Leave it up to the mint to come out with another oddball. 13.7g and a whopping 35mm, photo for size comparison. 17.5k minted. Not one for the history books, but im a fan of the oddities of the rcm
Just another easy to miss caribou.
Not my typical posts. An oldie but a goodie. Loads of history in this one.
Hopefully, this will help some out. Knowledge is power
This is the 1997 Winnipeg set. It marks the unique transition from Ottawa over to Winnipeg midway through the year to serve as the main producer for brilliant uncirculated. There are no distinguished marks on the strikes to separate the Ottawa and Winnipeg sets apart. The layout of the set going loonie, toonie, 50 cent left to right on the reverse side is the only way to tell you have a genuine 1997W. There were 175k minted and comes with the coveted 97 loonie and caribou, which also didn't make it into circulation for those years, which makes this a highly coveted piece. The 90s were the wild west of modern canadian numismatics
Just a couple of coins from the 90s that always get forgotten about. These never went into circulation. Keep an eye out hunters
The first time the loon got an alternate look. Was looking for the standard 97, and stumbled into this beauty. Under 200k minted across all sets.
Marketing vs reality. Provenance came directly from the mint. One sold in the proof like set, the other in a presentation case as a specimen. The subtleness on these.... Solid year though im not complaining!!
It's one of my favorite Canadian coins for obvious reasons. What's a coin you're proud of?
Bought for a couple bucks at a show. I was gonna use it for a little art project. Now it just hangs out on my fridge...
Going through some old boxes. Still sealed even.
The goldplated centennial, 32k minted, with that being said.... GO LIONS GO
glow tech. Lovely addition with canada day on the horizon. 1/4 oz.
Bit of an oddball, but this is non circulating legal tender. 6 strings nation 50 cent piece, big ol 36mm with a holographic middle, weighs 19g. 30k minted.
Anyone else got some oddball canadian coins that stick out in a colllection?
