This is the propellor in question, it doesn’t look spun. Is it the gears?
I checked the gear oil and there are no metal shavings in it.
The axle where the prop goes onto seems like maybe the prop has spun over it a couple times.
Just bought this engine. When I give it throttle it does this and it makes a scary sound and revs up very high. Is it a spun prop?
Outboard does not cool. When I flush it through the tell tale water comes out, but there is nothing coming out when I am running it. Just changed impeller. There are exhaust gasses coming out of the tell tale so I pulled the powerhead. I’m not seeing anything weird. Will a new powerhead seal fix it or should I look somewhere else?
EDIT: There was an old impeller fin stuck in the impeller housing were I can’t reach.
The weight is not visible on the serial plate anymore. Does anyone know?
It’s a 1993 Yamaha 30hp 2 stroke 3 cilinder shortshaft, manual, tiller outboard.
Just did a full carb clean and rebuild, doesn’t really want to idle but that’s fixable. The only strange thing is that the carb makes this weird sound, anybody knows why?
Replaced the impeller on my 2001 tohatsu 4hp 2 stroke. Still no water coming out, when I spray water through the tell tale water comes dropping from the bottom of the Powerhead( not supposed to) and from the water tube ( like supposed to ). Also exhaust gasses coming out of the tell tale hole.
My theory is that the exhaust gasket is leaking which makes it so the impeller can’t build up enough water pressure and makes exhaust gasses come out of the tell tale hole. The system is not clogged.
Any tips? Never pulled a powerhead before, can’t be that hard since it’s an small and old 4hp 2 stroke.
