How I'm Treating Severe Constipation, Past SIBO and Severe Stomach Pains To 90% Success

The Problem : Severe constipation and constant stomach bloating and pain

TLDR; At the bottom.

I've been waiting a few months to make this post as I didn't want to get ahead of myself on my treatment plan. I wanted to share what I've been working on and how I've been treating my IBS/SIBO/Stomach Pains.

Post Covid I came down with severe stomach issues that I could not shake, this is a multiple year old story that transcends a multitude of "solutions" that never gave me any relief. I hope to give this information to everyone out there who has gone down the same rabbit hole as myself and finds this post and hopefully this solution works well for them too.

I followed my multiple GI doctors (4+ ) advice and I've tried the following with no/little help.

  • 2x Endoscopies (good)
  • 1x Colonoscopy (good)
  • PH Bravo test (good)
  • Gastric Emptying Test (good)
  • CT Scan (good)
  • Ultrasound (good)
  • Linzess
  • Hyosciamine
  • PHGG Fiber
  • Metamucil
  • Low Fodmap
  • Sucraid (for sugar sensitity)
  • 2x SIBO tests
  • 2x Rifxamin
  • TCAS : Impepramine, Amitriptlyne
  • Famotadine
  • Omeprazole
  • Pantromeprozole
  • TUMS
  • IBguard
  • Gaviscon
  • GasX
  • Motegrity
  • Magnesium Citrate.. all of the magnesiums

After taking/trying every single one of these things listed above, I had little to no help for my symptoms. It's been beyond frustrating.

The Solution!

I found a youtube link of a GI conference in UCLA and they presented new ways to treat IBS using less common methods than the ones detailed above. Please see UCLA study here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZa3nRSR7Es

You can find the remarks from the doctor at 1hr 10minutes.

He outlines ways to treat IBS in ways that not been historically focused on in the past. One method of treatment is Duloxetine (Cymbalta)

I started on 20mg Duloxetine + 15mg Buspirone and I'm there today, I started this regiment 60+ days ago.

Within 1 week my symptoms reduced 20-25% and then flared up in the second week and then by the third week started going down again. At about 6 weeks I noticed major flares have subsided now and I have mini flares that last about 3-5 minutes a few times a day at most.

Conclusion

I'm a mixture of happy, sad and frustrated with this process. This has been going on for over 3 years now. I have not found relief until I watched a youtube video.. on the internet. Not one of the 30+ doctors appointments have pointed me in this direction once. I'm not a Doctor.. I shouldn't have to be one to solve my own issues. That's why I pay hundreds of dollars every month for insurance and thousands in deductibes every year attacking this problem.

To find at the end.. the solution to this problem was oh so very simple.. just a simple pill bottle that costs like $5/mo

I leave frustrated with the medical system in the US and how pathetic it feels. But thankful for this youtube videos direction to possibly solving my IBS forever.

I'm happy to answer ANY questions you have!

TLDR; Bloating stomach pain, constipation and severe IBS solved by Duloxetine.

CPAP Leak Issues

I'm currently in the middle of really trying to nail down my sleep strategies and I have an issue right now that I'm curious if other people have faced.

I sleep with nasal pillows that from what I understand.. do not leak. I've checked the tube and everything seems good to me. I also have introduced mouth tape which is covering my entire mouth.

Somehow still. I'm getting leaks during parts of my night. Is it plausible that I'm just swallowing air? I've attached a recent oscar data night.

Anyone Transition From APAP to CPAP Successfully?

I've been running on APAP for a bit and my sleep is just not there, I wake up quite tired. I'm curious if i'm getting micro arousals via the pressure shifts through the night.

I see 1-2CM swings through the night via Oscar.. my AHI has always been good.. usually 1-2AHI each night.

Has anyone had any success moving to a single pressure via the CPAP settings?

I’m currently shopping a 2018 LC500 and I was curious about the indoor door fabric. The one I test drove on driver and passenger looked great but when you touched it. It caved in almost like it’s a soft foam and then full of air. Is this by design or is there an issue?
