Anyone else get the dreaded post surgery infection?!

12 days out. Got a pounding headache right above the right eyebrow, pain on the right side of the heard, greenish yellow thick nasal drainage. ENT prescribed Ceftin which I started last night. Just wondering when I can expect to turn the corner. Was just barely beginning to feel slightly better. This recovery has been beyond miserable.

And advice on stopping the post nasal bleeding?

72 hours post-op. Still have post nasal blood that I’m coughing up and is sliding down to my stomach making me nauseous. Any ideas on what might help with this?

Update: Called doctor who thinks the stents might be cutting a bit. Told me to use Afrin.

24 hours post op: nasal spray just getting stuck

I had septoplasty and valve repair about 24 hours ago. The pain out of surgery was pretty bad, not going to lie. But the Percocet has helped significantly as has sleep, which I was surprised to get. I’m really having problems out with pressure in my nose, and so I’m trying to do the simply saline spray that the doctor recommended. My problem is I am so congested that the spray is just going up by nose. It’s staying there making the problem worse. I know it’s supposed to help me. It’d be good for recovery but honestly, it’s hard to keep on just adding more stuff stuck up there. Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong for how to help? Is there a position I should take when spraying? I was holding off on the full NeilMD nasal flush until my stents come out in 4 days.

Edit:Thank you for your advice. I’ve read them all. I’m at hour 48 and in agony. Coughing up blood and feel like my nose is going to explode. Lack of sleep and bleeding is taking its toll I’m afraid.

Getting it done soon and wondering about the recovery process. My turbinates were normal on exam and endoscopy so I’m avoiding them to get the septum fixed and valve repaired.
