I hate seeing so much misanthropy on environmental subreddits: no other group on the planet has spread so many non-native species and killed so many indigenous flora and fauna as European colonizers: from Iceland to South Africa, Australia, and to Alaska, the wanton annihilation of species and people was widespread and vicious.

Indigenous people obviously weren’t singing kumbaya with each other and megafauna, but they were better stewards and European ‘explorers’ marveled at lands that were teeming with wildlife and a myriad of ethnic groups.
